September 2023 - Lualemba Bungalow Resort - Nemberala, Rote Island - Newsletter

Hi Guys and Gals

When you think the surf can’t get any better September produced some of the best waves for this time of year. Tland was going off with some sizey days. Boa season had started producing some good conditions with larger waves ( sorry no photos ) and Dana was all time with the left and right pumping finished with a awesome sail back to Nemberala. Loch who has been coming for years with his parents is not far off coming here with a few mates. Awesome to see him grow into a young man. Some guests took the trek to Oefamba waterfalls on one of many Rote Island adventures. Te Aila funky photos while sailing back from Dana by the looks of everyone the smiles on their faces is proof why a day out and about is whole a part of your next Rote Island holiday. Enjoy October newsletter and start planning your next adventure to Rote Island for season 2024.

Early morning at Nemberala Beach Harbor

Early morning at Nemberala Beach Harbor with fisherman selling their produce, the ferry getting ready to leave for Ndao and the boats waiting to shuttle surfers out to Tland surf reef.

Ndana Island adventure is a must for your next Lualemba holiday.

The waves were pumping at Dana Island in September with some of the best waves for season 2023. The hardest decision for Lualemba Bungalow guests was whether they wanted to go left or go right as both waves were producing good quality rides.

Day out to Oefamba Waterfalls

Some of Lualemba guests ventured out on their motorbikes to check out Oefamba waterfalls. It is quite a hike as it is 2/3rds across Rote island but the trip takes in different landscapes and meeting local people that don’t see many westerners which can be a fun experience. Oefamba waterfalls are pretty much the only waterfalls on Rote Island during the dry season and it is puzzling where such a volume of water continually comes from as Rote island isn’t very mountainous. Anyone interested in taking the trip to Oefamba waterfalls can charter a car for the day with or without a driver instead of doing the distance on a motorbike.

Te aila is a blast sailing home after a day adventuring the outer islands.

Te Aila is a James Wharram Pahi design catamaran. Exclusive for Lualemba Guests Te Aila has been a worthy way to get out and about around the Rote outer islands and fishing trips. The beauty with Te Aila is it provides plenty of shade has storage for all your surf and adventure equipment. Room for food and cold drinks the guests have big smiles on their dials after an eight hour adventure.

Loch has been coming to Lualemba Bungalows for years

Loch has been coming to Lualemba Bungalows for quite some time now with his parents Nick and Wanda. Like most of guests they have fallen in love with Rote Island and keep making the trek back whenever they can get a couple of weeks off work. It makes Jenet and I proud that 80% of our guests make the return pilgrimage back to Lualemba Bungalows year after year and a further 15% have been recommended to a must stay at Lualemba Bungalows while visiting Rote Island. It’s amazing how everyone around you seems to get older but I feel just the same young at heart.

Tland surf reef had some of the best waves I could remember for the month of September.
