Sailing with only the power of the wind just can’t take the smiles off these guests faces.

Road tripping around Rote

Lualemba guests have the option of hiring a motor scooter with or without motor bike racks. We can arrange day car charters if motor scooters are not your thing. Whether your adventure is searching for distant surf breaks from Nemberala or just discovering what is around the island. There are isolated beaches, old mangroves and traditional style to funky out there villages that make a wonderful day out if the surf is flat or your just in the mood to go out and discover. Along the way you will see the amazing landscapes that are quite unique to the island of Rote.

Day boat trip to Do’o Island

Do’o Island has one of the best surf reef breaks on the island on its day. A right hander with an easy barrel section. It requires a west north west wind for it to be offshore. On the other side of the island protected from the south east trade winds is a beautiful beach with a great snorkelling reef just several metres from the shore. Discover the traditional fishing huts that can be a great place to hangout. Maybe cook a fresh caught fish cooked with the drift wood gathered from the beach.

Hyped by the stoke of Dana Island. Has great surf, crystal clear lagoon with beautiful safe snorkelling and sup fun.

Day boat trip to Dana Island

Lualemba guests can take the option with a boat day trip to one of the islands just a short distance from Nemberala. With a maximum of six guests per outing they can discover places such as Dana Island. The most South Island in Indonesia and closest to Australia that has a dark past from being overtaken by Rote tribal warfare back in the day where every person was killed on the island and made uninhabited until the Japanese built an air base during world war 2. They enslaved the local people to create a runway that was used to bombarded Darwin and Derby. After world war 2 it became uninhabited again up to around 2011 when Indonesia decided to occupy all its uninhabited boundary islands with military personnel. This amazing island has surf incredible crystal clear waters that is great for snorkelling the inner reef to playing around on the shallow lagoon area near the beach. wander along the beach and place the first foot prints on the sand for the day. Check out the rugged coastal rocks and reef at low tide. Still a favourite destination of mine as its a paradise of its own.
