Lualemba Bungalows 2023 Book Here 〰️

Sunset through the coconut trees.

Lualemba guests fishing Rote waters and record breaking catch.

I had a lot of confidence in these guys as Mick and Dasha have been loyal guests here at Lualemba Bungalows for a number of years now knowing the ropes around Rote in and out of the water. Greg just looked like a hook and sinker type of guy. Unfortunately I couldn’t come and be their fishing guide for the day so I told the captain to follow a particular route where fish likely be on the bite, which he didn’t. It was a beautiful day out on the water so they circumnavigated some of the outer islands in hope the big fish they anticipated for would jump at the opportunity of a tastey 9” plastic luar. Well strike me down dead these guys latched onto a record breaking catch. The smallest fish ever to be photographed and recorded on a 9” luar. People I bet are still talking about it back in their hometown and their grandchildren will tell their children bedtime stories about their grandfathers catch back in Rote when there were still fish in the ocean. It took an effort from all three fisherman with Dasha sensing there was a fish on the end of the line, Mick reeling in listening to Dasha coaching their record breaking catch with Greg holding the gaff in hand searching over the side of the boat for the right opportunity to seal the catch into the boat. While the captain was making strange bellowing noises at the back of the boat grasping onto whatever he could not to fall overboard. Ask any well experienced woman it’s not how big it is but how much fun they are having at the time and I’m sure these guys can relate to that.

Mick proud of his trophy catch. Well done guys I’m sure bigger and better days are ahead of you.

Te Aila is back in action

Three years out of action Te Aila has been maintained back into action after suffering budget cuts from covid times and damages from a cyclone that hit Rote back in April 2021. This year made me realise how much Te Aila meant to guests when they stay at Lualemba Bungalows. With her out of action for pretty much the whole of 2022 season guests were hoping for a day out to some of Rotes outer islands. Well I am pleased to say she is ready for 2023 season and October newsletter I will have about my adventure to Dili in Timor Leste.

Lualemba Bungalows was back in it’s full glory

Pretty much a full house at Lualemba Bungalows with a variety of guests from Lake Cathie (south of Lighthouse Beach) and Newcastle. A lot of fun nights with the preliminary finals of the NRL on the TV in the restaurant and good music surrounding the conversations at night. Thanks for coming guys it was a lot of fun having you stay.

September Waves were firing.

The guests were at pretty much everyday of September surfing themselves once and twice a day until their little rubber arms could not do it anymore. Nothing too enormous but a good consistency in size to keep the Rote stoke alive.
