Hi guys

All day there were perfect conditions but the swell didn’t kick in until late afternoon at about the 3ft range, shoulder high. Tland was a lot of fun as the winds were light offshore from the south east. A few in the water ready for the start of the Rote island season and everyone was having fun waves.

Cheers Dave

Today there was a drop in swell again and was pretty much not surfable on Rote island. The winds were the same as yesterday nice south east winds early then swinging to the south later in the day. High tide was at 12.56pm at 3.4 meters.

Not a lot to report today and cheers from Dave

Today there was actually a little wave not quite waist high. I surfed Tland and picked up two excellent runners that were quite fun. Other waves were either quick or short but by the time I returned to shore I was surfreshed and happy.

Cheers for now Dave

Still not much swell yet pretty much unsurfable today with ankle high sets at Tland. Great conditions just need swell. High tide was at 12,10pm at 3.50 meters.

Not much to report today. Cheers Dave

Perfect surf conditions just lacking swell would be a great day fishing around Rote island as I saw a lot of good size fish come in today. Small swell like this usually means a swell is likely gonna come soon. High tide was at 11.49am at 3.50 meters.

Great conditions today but lacking in the swell department. Great day for suping in the lagoon with very little wind from the north. High tide was at 11.37am at 3.35 meters.

Today there was a surfable wave at Tland at around 2-3ft it was a little crumbly but it’s been a long time between surfs. By the afternoon the swell died with the low tide to about ankle high. High tide was at 11.14am at 3.22 meters.

Great to see an end to the those consistent onshore winds.Cheers Dave

Today the winds swung to the north west which was no good for Tland but Boa would have a rideable wave with a slight cross shore wind. Swell was around 2-3ft, waist to shoulder high. High tide was at 10.50am at 3.10 meters.

When the boats on mooring at Nemberala are pointing at the waves from the shore it’s not a good sign. Surf has dropped a lot today at around 2-3ft, below waist high and that south west wind continues to blow without any rest.

Have a good day cheers Dave

The onshore winds are still persistent from the south west but plenty of swell pushing through Tland. Unfortunately it is unsurfable for Rote island, if the winds did swing with the 4-5ft swell at the moment there would be a lot of fun out there.

The waves today Tland had a slight increase at around 4-5ft, a little over head but still that persistent south west wind was steady as always. Making nowhere on Rote island good enough to surf. High tide was at 9.47am at 2.4 meters. Have a great d

Have a great day and hopefully a change in the winds in the near future will have something nice to say about the surf on Rote island.

Dave

Another Lovely day in Rote with blue skies and not too hot. Waves were still around the 4ft height, head high with the winds still blowing from the south east, onshore making everywhere on Rote pretty much blown out.

Hi guys

Today At Tland a little kick in the swell at around 4ft, head high but very messy still with a steady south west wind blowing onshore. Sea is looking calm probably good for fishing or maybe some of the outer islands have waves for a mal or fish. High tide was at 5.32pm at 2.40 meters. Hopefully there will be some waves on Rote island soon I’ve seen tourist on the beach walking around like zombies but the surf season starts in April here and very rarely you get waves in March.

Have a good days Cheers Dave.

Today was a lovely day with only a couple of clouds in the sky. However the surf was still dropping at around the 2ft range, waist high with the wind more to the west which is still onshore for most the surf breaks on Rote island.

Hi Guys

Today was a lovely day with only a couple of clouds in the sky. However the surf was still dropping at around the 2ft range, waist high with the wind more to the west which is still onshore for most the surf breaks on Rote island. The ocean was a lot calmer today and you could of gone out and about on a boat especially if you headed to more sheltered areas. Good conditions probably for surf at a couple of the outer islands but maybe not enough swell. High tide today was at 3.17pm at 2.8 meters. Late this afternoon there looked like a slight increase in swell so hopefully tomorrow is looking better.

Cheers for now Dave

The surf has gone from messy to sloppy at around 3ft

17 March 2024

Hi Guys

Today the surf has gone from messy to sloppy dropping down to around 3ft, shoulder high. Winds are still consistent from the south west still making everywhere on the island unsurfable. High tide was at 2.32pm at 3.1 meters. Nice cool day today with an early light shower of rain this morning wit some cloud cover most of the day. Great for getting around the island exploring but not too good out on a boat.

Cheers for now Dave

Swell has drop today a little around 4 ft, shoulder to head high and the wind has picked up from yesterday still from the south west so still nowhere to surf on Rote island today or venture out on a boat as the ocean is still a mess with the water.

Hi Guys

Swell has drop today a little around 4 ft, shoulder to head high and the wind has picked up from yesterday still from the south west so still nowhere to surf on Rote island today or venture out on a boat as the ocean is still a mess with the water movement. High tide was at 1.57pm today at 3.4 meters. The transport and Behari ferries ran today so that is good news for those people wanting to get on and off the island.

Have a good day cheers Dave

Hi guys

Still a messy swell with nowhere suitable for surfing or even going out on the water. All ferries haven’t been running for a few days now from Kupang and Rote. This photo is petrol bombs it stands up more than the other surf breaks in Rote so I’m calling an average 4 ft, head high ,little over messy wave at Tland today, winds have eased but still consistent south west, onshore and no rain today which made it pleasant with a light cloud cover making it quite cool out and about today. Tonight at 1.14am they are calling a 3.6 meter high tide so they are still quite large and a lot of damage has been caused still along the Nemberala beach fronts.

Cheers for now Dave

Another wild weather day with a lot of rain and slightly less windy than the last few days but still steady from the south west. The waves are 4 - 5ft around head to head and half high.

14 March 2024

Another wild weather day with a lot of rain and slightly less windy than the last few days but still steady from the south west. The waves are 4 - 5ft around head to head and half high. Biggest tide last night at 3.70 meters and even mid day a massive amount of damage a long Nemberala beach and the beachfront resorts. Some there is a big question mark to what solution they have to repair the damage on the beach to their resorts for the opening to the season with some already with guests. The surfing season doesn’t start till April and is pretty much a waste of time coming to Rote island before then.

Have a lovely day and cheers for now Dave

Today the swell was a mess with onshore winds from the south west created by a low pressure system between Java and Exmouth Western Australia. None of the surf breaks around Rote island were surfable and a lot of intense rain and wind.

13 March 2024

Hi Guys

Today the swell was a mess with onshore winds from the south west created by a low pressure system between Java and Exmouth Western Australia. None of the surf breaks around Rote island were surfable and a lot of intense rain and wind throughout the day. A ongoing issue in Nemberala has been resorts along the beach creeping down the beach building illegal barricades on public land, cutting down coconut trees to improve views and clearing of sand foliage that holds the sand in place that minimises erosion so their guests can trample down to the beach. It is a problem that is worsening along the Nemberala beach which was once awarded as one of Indonesia’s most beautiful beaches. I guest them days are long gone and how can these beach resorts tag themselves as eco-friendly. What is the solution if these resort owners, government officials and guests that pay high prices ignore this environmentally damaging situation that needs to be rectified to International and Indonesian tidal boundary laws. How much beach does a resort and their guests on the beach need.

Have a great day guys and cheers from Dave
